Our Horses:
Miss Top Sail Pacody aka CC:

CC is the only surviving foal of my first horse.  She is spoiled rotten!  She loves the fact that she doesn't have to be ridden anymore due to a leg injury sustained when she was kicked in the knee by another horse.  She was born 28 May 1990, when I was 10 years old.

CC has had three babies.

Tangereas Smart Sailn aka Sailor:

Pics from left to right:  CC and Sailor napping.  Sailor being cute.  Sailor as a yearling.

Sailor is owned by Debbie Grulke in Buckeye, Arizona.

Updates on Sailor (30 May 2008):

Sailor is a mommy (that makes my CC girl a grandma!!!!!).  Here are some pictures of her and her baby, Selina, who was born Apr 2008.

What is truly uncanny is how much Sailor looks like CC!!!!!!  The spot in the center of their foreheads are identical, they are almost the same color (CC is slightly lighter in the winter!), and they have the same build.  the only difference is the white on Sailor's legs and a small snip on the end of Sailor's nose.  I bet I could pick this horse out of a crowd!

Tangereas Foolin You aka Joker:

Pics from left to right:  Joker and Cc.  Joker posing after snacking.  Joker being nosy as a weanling.

Joker is owned by Jim Brown in Arizona.

Waiting for updates on Joker (30 May 2008).

MissTangerea Top Sail aka Missy:

Unfortunately Missy was lost to colic.  (see Rainbow Bridge page)

Fleet One aka Fleet:

Fleet arriving at our house...this is the first time I saw him.  I took him without even seeing pictures to keep him from being euthanized.

Fleet is a beautiful, 20+ year old, quarter horse gelding who came to us when he could no longer be used as a lesson horse.  Unfortunately his prior owners did not tell us that he had Cushings.  (click here for info on Cushings).  It took us almost 8 months before we finally narrowed it down to Cushings.  In that time, he lost almost 200 pounds!  With a special diet and the right medications, Fleet is starting to regain his weight.  It has been a long road, but he is happy and healthy again.  He is a wonderful horse around the kids and especially seems to have bonded with Angel!

Pics left to right:  CC and Fleet sharing some hay.  See how skinny he is after 3 months on a special diet and meds.  He has since gained almost another 100 pounds.

Updated pictures of Fleet:

Fleet is doing much better.  As you can see from the pictures he is gaining back a lot of weight in his stomach, hips, and back.  His ribs are almost non visible.  When it warms up, we will doing some round pen work and light riding to get his muscles back in shape and get him rounded out the rest of the way.

Royal Mystery aka Misty:

Misty is a 3 year old Arabian/Appaloosa (otherwise known as an Araloosa) Mare that came to us last year at around the same time Fleet did.  She came from a wonderful family who loved her very much, but just didn't have the time or the finances to keep her.  She is a bit of a challenge most days since she has a lot of the Arabian attitude and the Appaloosa stubbornness.  We had an animal communicator speak with Misty to try to understand some of the things that she does...boy did we learn about her.  Her first thing was that her name is not Misty, it is Royal Mystery.  We suspect that is because her previous owners didn't know her momma was pregnant when they bought her.  We think that at one point someone must have mentioned that her birth was a royal mystery...hence her assumed name!  We love her anyway though!  Misty ended up having to be moved to a different pasture from CC and Fleet because she began beating Fleet up for food.  She now runs in a band with our landlord's mares, where she has learned that there are some horses that won't put up with her attitude.  Although I noticed last week that she has pushed her way up to second in command!

Pictures left to right:  Misty last spring playing in the snow drifts.  Misty just before we moved to Nebraska.  Look at how much she has roaned out!!!  She used to be a solid sorrel!

Our Dogs:
Valient and Screwy:

Valient and Screwy are brothers.  They are half golden retriever and half lab.  Both of their parents are registered.  They joined our family April of 2006 when they were six weeks old.

Valient and Screwy:  Then and Now

Valient:

Valient was named after the kids movie called "Valient".  He is named after the pigeon that is the lead character in the movie.  Valient is a bit more hyper than Screwy.  His favorite thing to do is chase the cats around our new place.  he has learned not to mess with them when they seek refuge under CC though!

Valient today!

Screwy:

Screwy was named after the baseball in the kids movie "Everyone's Hero".  he is a super sweet dog who prefers to go everywhere you do.  He is a bit less hyper than Valient and would much rather chew sticks than chase cats!  Although, he finds that once in a while chasing cats is fun...especially when they climb the tree out front!

Screwy today!

Our Cats:
Puffy:

Puffy is a nine year old domestic longhair.  He is the grandson of my red seal point siamese cat that I had in my nearly teenage years.  He was born wild, but before his eyes opened our dog found him and brought him home.  I was supposed to take him in and feed him until he was old enough to be weaned to dry food and then I was supposed to find a good home for him.  Well, he found a home all right! lol  After all the work I put into him, I found that I couldn't give him up.

Pics left to right:  Puffy's new favorite hiding spot.  Puffy's Shadow aka Simon the outside cat !

My favorite picture of Puffy and Pistol!

Pistol:

Pistol is an eight year old domestic shorthair.  She joined our family when I worked at a no kill animal shelter in Arizona called Sun Cities Animal Rescue.  Her momma was brought to the shelter while she was in labor.  The shelter didn't have room for more cats in the cattery at that time, but her owner threatened to dump her in the desert.  I could see her having contractions and being the only paid staff on duty at the time, I broke the rules and brought her in.  She forced herself not to have the kittens for three days!!!!  The vet finally had to induce her to force her to have the kittens.  Pistol got her name the minute she came out as she started immediately hissing at the vet!  After three days of nursing the kittens her momma decided that she was done with them and refused to feed them.  Each of us staff members took a kitten home to bottle feed and care for until they were of an adoptable age.  When the time came, I was so attached that I couldn't give her up!  The shelter manager agreed to let me adopt her.

Pics left to right:  Pistol at a year old.  Pistol hiding.  Pistol watching TV!

Clyde:

Clyde is a sweet kitten who was almost eaten by his mother!  She apparently gets tired of taking care of her kittens after the first week and then kills and eats them!  We were warned about her bad habits and so we were watching for when she had the kittens.  She had them under the downspout from the gutters right after a bad rainstorm.  There were four of them...two males and two females.  We brought momma and babies in thinking that we would be better able to keep them safe.  We also thought that with 24/7 access to food and water that the momma might do better about taking care of her kittens.  Overnight at the end of the first week, she killed and ate one of the kittens and was working on the second.  Unfortunately even though we were able to pull the second kitten from her, it was too weak at that point to survive.  We took the remaining kittens from her and let her return to her normal outside life.  Things were going good until the kittens caught an Upper Respritory Infection.  We almost got the female back on track when she began having seizures.  The seizures were too much for her and she died.  Clyde was a very sick kitten and we were beginning to wonder if he would make it.  He had three seizures and then rallied back.  He is now eight weeks old.  His growth is stunted and he nearly lost his vision in his left eye from the infection, but he is one happy, healthy kitten!

Pics from left to right:  Bonnie and Clyde at one week old.  Bonnie eating.  Clyde eating.

Clyde today at eight weeks old.

New pictures of Clyde taken Mar 2008

Clyde taking a nap on Kody's Pooh Bear!

Clyde riding the vacuum.  He isn't afraid of it like Puffy and Pistol are!  They run and hide when it is started up, but he rides it like a toy!
